A fractional IT director provides executive-level technology leadership on a part-time or project basis — strategy, vendor management, budget planning, and decision-making — without the full-time salary of a CIO. A managed service provider (MSP) primarily handles operational tasks like help desk, server monitoring, and break-fix work. I focus on the strategic and financial decisions; many of my clients still use an MSP for day-to-day operations, and I oversee them on your behalf.

What size businesses do you typically work with?

I work with small and mid-market businesses, generally between 5 and 500 employees. The common factor isn't size — it's that the business has outgrown ad-hoc IT management but doesn't yet need a full-time technology executive. If you're spending more than $50,000 per year on IT and don't have a director-level person owning those decisions, that's typically the right fit.

How much does fractional IT consulting cost?

Yes. While I'm based in Los Angeles, the majority of my work is remote and I serve clients nationwide. For projects that require on-site presence — network installations, hardware deployments, executive workshops — I travel as needed. Most strategy, advisory, and vendor management work is handled remotely via video calls, shared documents, and dedicated Slack channels.

I serve businesses across industries, with particular depth in hospitality (hotels, hospitality groups), consumer products and e-commerce, and small-to-mid-market professional services. The technology challenges that come with growing past 25 employees, or modernizing legacy systems, or cutting IT spend, look surprisingly similar across verticals — the specific tools differ, but the strategic decisions don't.

Can you also handle digital marketing and SEO, or do I need a separate agency?

Yes — but in a leadership capacity, not as an in-house executor. My background includes 8 years overseeing technology, web development, and digital marketing teams simultaneously for a Gardena-based consumer products company that grew from $7M to over $21M in annual revenue under my tenure. I lead the marketing, branding, SEO, and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) work — selecting and managing the right specialists and agencies, reviewing their output, and aligning their work with your business strategy.
